On December 1st, the Foodtown of Washington Heights celebrated its Grand Opening, with festivities that continued through the weekend. The supermarket is owned by the Abed Family, who also operate two additional Foodtown stores and two Brooklyn Harvest Markets in the NYC boroughs. The new store is located on Broadway at 160th Street.
Omni participated in the store set up, with our team helping to merchandise the various perishable departments. We also performed demo activities throughout the weekend. A large contingent of Allegiance personnel attended the store opening as well in support of this exciting new location.
Although Foodtown stores represent a majority, Allegiance supports many other banners within the co-op as well, such as Brooklyn Harvest Market. Membership offers many benefits to an independent retailer such as competitive pricing, marketing services, and retail support. Members also have access to a full line of Foodtown private label products. Allegiance’s mission is to “provide independent supermarkets the customized retail services to optimize their success in their unique market place.”
